Tom McCredie Apprenticeship Programme

I had the privilege of working closely with Tom McCredie ("Mac") during our time at Hewlett Packard within the Threat and Vulnerability Management Team in the mid-2010s. Later, he embarked on a new journey at Capita, where he quickly rose to a leadership position, running the team.

Tom was a force to be reckoned with in the world of Cyber Security. What made his story remarkable was his relentless passion for the industry—he proudly broke into and excelled in this field without a degree, driven by his love for hacking and breaking things.

In his memory, I am proud to announce that BeeSec has established an apprenticeship scheme for those who aspire to follow in Tom's footsteps through vocational learning. In July 2024, we welcomed our first apprentice, who is already excelling—soaring towards both industry certifications and an apprenticeship degree qualification.

The next intake for applications under this scheme will open in January 2026, with awards being made in March 2026.

To ensure the utmost integrity in our decision-making process, I am honoured to be joined by Lisa McCredie, Tom's widow, on the awards panel. Lisa will play an active role in shaping the future of this programme, ensuring that Tom’s legacy continues to inspire the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
